1. Introduction

Running Rebels Organization (“Running Rebels,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through runningrebels.org (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. This Policy applies to information collected through the Site and does not cover information collected in person through separate program enrollment, intake, or consent forms, which is governed by the terms of those forms.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you provide directly. When you use a contact form, sign up for our email newsletter, apply for employment, inquire about volunteering, or make a donation, you may provide information such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and, for donations, payment-related information (collected by our third-party donation processor, described below).

Information about program interest submitted on behalf of a minor. If a parent or guardian submits an inquiry regarding a youth program on behalf of a child, we collect the information provided in that inquiry solely to respond and, where the family proceeds, to begin our program intake process, which uses separate, program-specific consent forms.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site may automatically collect certain technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring URLs, through cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Information from third parties. We may receive information from our donation processor (Click & Pledge) confirming that a donation was made, from email service providers regarding newsletter engagement, or from social media platforms when you interact with our public pages (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn).

3. Children’s Privacy

Running Rebels is a youth-serving organization, and protecting the privacy of the young people we serve is a priority. The Site itself is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect personal information online directly from, children under 13 in the manner addressed by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Information about a minor’s participation in our programs is collected through parents, guardians, or authorized program staff as part of an in-person or paper/digital intake and consent process separate from general Site browsing. If we learn that a child has submitted personal information directly through the Site without parental involvement, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information. Parents or guardians with questions or requests regarding a minor’s information may contact us using the information in Section 13.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries about our programs, volunteering, employment, or partnerships;
  • Process and acknowledge donations, and maintain donor records for gift acknowledgment and tax-receipt purposes;
  • Send newsletters, program updates, event invitations, or fundraising communications to those who have opted in;
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and understand how visitors use it;
  • Comply with legal, grant-reporting, and regulatory obligations (for example, aggregate or de-identified reporting to funders); and
  • Protect the safety, rights, and property of Running Rebels, our program participants, staff, and the public.

We do not use information collected through the Site to make automated decisions about program eligibility.

5. Artificial Intelligence

We may utilize artificial intelligence (“AI”) technologies to assist with content creation, customer communications, accessibility improvements, analytics, translation, personalization, search optimization, workflow automation, and other business operations. Where AI is used in connection with our services, it is intended to assist our team and improve the user experience. Personal information processed through AI-assisted technologies is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for functionality, analytics, and to support embedded third-party content (such as social media feeds and video players). For details on the types of cookies used and how to manage your preferences, please see our Cookie Policy.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with third-party service providers who process information on our behalf or in connection with the Site, including:

  • Donation processing platform (currently Click & Pledge), which securely handles payment information for online donations;
  • Email/newsletter delivery platform, used to manage subscriptions and send communications to opted-in subscribers;
  • Website hosting and development services, used to operate and maintain the Site;
  • Analytics providers, if enabled, used to understand aggregate Site traffic and usage;
  • AI-assisted tools, used as described in Section 5 above; and
  • Social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn), through which embedded content or sharing features may be displayed.

These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide their services to us and are subject to their own privacy policies and terms, which we encourage you to review.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information:

  • With the third-party service providers described in Section 7, solely to operate the Site and our programs;
  • In aggregate or de-identified form with funders, grantors, or the public (for example, in annual reports) in a manner that does not identify you or program participants individually;
  • If required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the safety of any person; and
  • In connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of organizational assets, subject to continued protection of personal information consistent with this Policy.

9. Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. Payment information for donations is handled by our PCI-compliant third-party donation processor and is not stored on Running Rebels’ own servers. While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and operate our business, including recordkeeping for donor acknowledgment, grant reporting, and legal or accounting requirements, after which it is deleted or de-identified in accordance with our internal recordkeeping practices.

11. Donor Privacy

Running Rebels Organization values the trust of our donors and is committed to protecting the confidentiality of donor information.

We collect and maintain donor information solely for purposes related to processing donations, acknowledging gifts, maintaining accurate financial and tax records, communicating with donors about our mission and activities, and complying with applicable legal and accounting obligations.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share donor names, contact information, or other personal information with third parties for their own marketing or fundraising purposes.

Donor payment information is processed securely through our third-party donation processor and is handled in accordance with applicable payment card industry (PCI) security standards. Running Rebels does not store complete payment card information on its own systems.

We may share donor information only:

  • With trusted service providers that assist us in processing donations, issuing receipts, maintaining donor records, or providing related services on our behalf, subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations;
  • When required by law, regulation, court order, or governmental request; or
  • As otherwise necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Running Rebels, our donors, or others.

Donors may request to update their contact information, limit future fundraising communications, or inquire about the personal information we maintain by contacting us using the information provided in the Contact Us section of this Privacy Policy.

12. Your Choices

  • Email communications: You may unsubscribe from our newsletter or fundraising emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us directly.
  • Cookies: You may adjust your browser settings to limit or block cookies; see our Cookie Policy for more detail.
  • Access or correction requests: You may contact us to ask about the information we hold about you or to request correction or deletion, and we will respond as appropriate and consistent with our recordkeeping obligations (for example, retaining donation records required for tax and accounting purposes).

13. Links to Other Websites

The Site may link to third-party websites, including social media platforms and our donation processor. This Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies directly.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The “Effective Date” above indicates when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
